Give that question a real answer.
Free overviews. No account needed. Read on for a little encouragement and a tour of the Academy.
Picture someone coming back for a second visit. They already know what they want. They brought a friend. The coffee they’re excited about is yours.
Picture standing behind a counter, a cart, or the window of your own trailer and realizing that the thing you used to talk about doing is now part of someone else’s morning.
Maybe that’s what you want. Maybe it’s a business you can build with your family. A place that feels like you. Work you care about. The chance to make something from the ideas that keep you awake in the best possible way.
Whatever brought you here, let yourself take it seriously.
It’s easy to give every possible problem a voice before your idea has had a chance to speak. What if nobody comes? What if I don’t know enough? What if I try and it doesn’t work?
Those questions deserve honest answers. So does this one: what if you learn how?
What if the numbers start making sense? What if you find a format that fits your life? What if a small first test gives you the confidence to take the next step? What if you discover that you’re capable of more than you’ve given yourself credit for?
You don’t need to feel like a business owner before you begin learning to become one. You can be excited and unsure at the same time. You can start small. You can change your mind when you learn something important. You can ask the question you think everyone else already knows the answer to.
The work will be real. There will be early mornings, decisions you have to revisit, and days that ask a lot of you. There can also be that first order, that first regular, that first time your team handles a rush together and you look around with a little disbelief: we built this.
You’re allowed to want that. And you’re allowed to begin before you know exactly how to get there.
That’s why Coffee Academy is here.
Coffee Academy is an online learning and resource platform for people planning, opening, running, and growing a coffee business. It brings lessons, practical tools, useful documents, and people into one place, with the Roadmap connecting it all.
It grows out of our experience building and operating By the Sea Coffee. We know how much happens between loving coffee and serving it for a living. We built the Academy to help you understand that work, make thoughtful decisions, and keep moving.
You might be exploring your first idea, preparing a cart or trailer, planning a café, or improving a business that already has customers. You have a place here.
The Roadmap organizes the journey into 4 Phases, 12 Stages, and 60 Steps. This welcome is Step 0, your starting point before Step 1. The sixty Steps are not sixty assignments due at once. They give you a way to see the whole journey while working on one manageable part of it.
Work out what you want to build, who it’s for, and how it could fit your life.
Work through the money, approvals, equipment, and setup that turn an idea into an operation.
Build the menu, routines, service, and team practices that make a good day repeatable.
Explore ways to reach more customers, strengthen revenue, and decide what comes next.
By working through it, you’ll give your idea more definition: a clearer concept, a better understanding of the costs, a list of questions to resolve, and practical next actions. As your business develops, the Roadmap stays useful as a reference you can return to.
You can explore visually in Map View or scan the steps in Curriculum View. Both lead to the same guidance.
You can explore the Roadmap without an account. Full Lessons and premium resources require membership. See Membership & Pricing for the current options. Barista Trainer includes eight lessons and practical training resources. Certificates remain in development.
Before you open the next page, finish this sentence for yourself: “The best thing this business could make possible for me is…”
Keep your answer somewhere you can find it. It will help you make choices when the options get noisy.
If you’re new to this, begin with Step 1: Purpose and follow the Roadmap in order. Read a little, apply what’s useful, and give yourself time to think. If you’re already operating, go straight to the Phase or Step that helps today. You can always come back.
You don’t have to solve the whole business today. Just give yourself one honest next step.
Good luck with the questions, the first attempts, the small wins, and everything you’re about to learn. We hope you build something you’re proud of, with people you’re glad to know.
Now, let’s see what’s possible.
